Things are happening fast at the Street Trucks garage for Sergeant Square, our 1985 Chevy squarebody pickup truck that we are building, selling, and then donating all its profits to Mission 22. This military-minded charity has an important message about veterans’ suicide that we want to help promote. Using our amazing network of automotive parts manufacturers and supporters, we took on the challenge to restore this once-forgotten Chevrolet into an award-winning, six-figure piece of art. We ordered an all-new chassis from All American Chassis and had it delivered on freight before sending it to the local powdercoater. While that process was happening, our good friends at Johnny’s Hotrod started preparing the original cab for a complete and final makeover. The rest of the original body panels were scrapped for brand-new parts from LMC Truck. This company had pretty much anything we needed to rebuild our classic Chevy truck, all just a click away. We also started assembling our front suspension from QA1. We are using coilovers in this truck so anyone can just jump in and drive. In this issue, we reveal the wheels we are bolting on and the engine we chose for this soon-to-be squarebody stud. We’ve produced quite a few pieces of content on this build so far, but if you’ve missed anything leading up, head over to SergeantSquare.com for all of the previous pages. If you’re interested to learn more about Mission 22, visit their website at Mission22.com—and let’s all agree that this is one amazing charity. In the last issue, we showed our new chassis with a fresh coating of gray powder. Now it’s time to start seeing how all the puzzle pieces fit into place. The first set of parts to be bolted up are the front suspension components, including the upper and lower control arms, the QA1 coilovers, and the Willwood steel spindles. We also have Wilwood 6-piston brakes on this amazing truck. This inside view shows the engineering between all these great companies, and those Nexen tires are the icing on the cake. Nothing like all-new from the ground up. Just as we were appreciating the beauty behind the brakes, another exciting shipment is right on schedule. In the next issue, we will break down exactly what powertrain we are running on Sergeant Square. For now, just know it’s going to be a powerful LS by our friends at Scoggin-Dickey. This was perfect timing for a quick trip over to Johnny’s Hotrod and Classics. They were in the middle of fitting our Fesler flush-mount rear glass. No seal will be needed with this glass, which will look great! For wheels, we chose 22-inch Rambler wheels from U.S. Mags, which look great and match the rendering. They are also off-the-shelf wheels, making them easy to replace for whoever buys it. We also set the rear wheels under the bedsides, which look amazing. Cant wait to drive this truck!
