Filled with mountains, impressive ski resorts and, of course, truck enthusiasts, Colorado has recently become my new home state (I moved from sunny Florida). The amount of truck shows has been steadily growing in the state known as the “Box State.” In 2011, Scrapin’ the Rockies was branded as an up-and-coming truck show located in Ignacio, Colorado—a city with a population of only 852 people. The popular truck show took a hiatus, but in 2023, Freaks of Nature member Branden Krzywonski resurrected Scrapin’ the Rockies. It is now in its second year and is growing larger than ever. Aside from gambling and the fine dining establishments inside the casino, a mini-golf competition was in full swing outside with winners getting yellow jackets and hitting a putter designed as a hockey stick, â la Happy Gilmore. A truck limbo contest brought out the lowest trucks where yours truly was the winner. Sponsors included Sky Ute Hotel and Casino, O’ Reilly Auto Parts, Bagged and Nerdy, BodyDropt, Viair, Adam’s Polish, Intermountain Safety Shoe Store, Bagged Board, Get Bagged, Gold Standard Detail and Ceramic, and Traffic Jamz. Vendors on hand were Lotties Trinket Shop, Bluzman Pinstripe, Rousey Roulette LLC., Figure It Out Fab Shop, Old School City and Leahas fresh squeezed lemonade. Hosted by Kinfolk Farms, Scrapin’ the Rockies was jam-packed with excitement. Branden and his family wish to thank everyone who came out to enjoy his sophomore presentation of Scrapin’, and he looks forward to many more years to come.
