Lock’er Down Adding a Console Safe for Your Valuables!
I deally, you should never have to worry about leaving valuables in your truck when you park it or pass the keys to a valet. Sure, locking your doors and arming the alarm will help keep your stuff safe, but some criminals will break in anyway. So, what do you do with those few items you don’t want to go missing?
Luckily for us (and bad for the bad guys), Lock’er Down has bolt-in console safes and a few other vehicle safe options for most of the late-model trucks on the market. They give you a place to store things like cash, passports and weapons without having to worry about sticky fingers. Check out the company’s website for photos and videos of would-be thieves thwarted by the Lock’er Down.
All the safes are built with 12-gauge steel, powdercoated black and completely made in the USA. Each of the safes are built vehicle-specific, so once installed, the fitment looks like it came installed from the factory. With a couple simple hand tools and a few minutes, you can install one and give yourself the piece of mind of knowing your valuables are safe.
For this article, we demonstrate how to install one of Lock’er Down’s safes into a ’19 Ram 1500 Laramie.
The company makes two different versions for the 2019 Rams due to the two different styles of sliding center console shelfs. The model we used here is the LD2078 ($289 retail), but we opted to upgrade to the Metal Case Electronic Lock (additional $150 retail). Follow along as we show you the few simple steps needed to install the safe and keep your valuables yours.
