GOODGUYS WELCOMES 1988-1998 GM TRUCKS TO LMC TRUCK SPRING LONE STAR NATIONALS FOR THE FIRST TIME

As the popularity of the 1988-1998 GM platform grows, Goodguys will welcome Old Body Style (OBS) trucks at the LMC Truck Spring Lone Star Nationals in Fort Worth, Texas.

Goodguys Rod & Custom Association, the organizer of America’s premier hot rod and custom car events, will welcome OBS trucks into the LMC Truck Spring Lone Start Nationals, drawing a younger audience and expanding the lineup of American made vehicles on display. “OBS” body style trucks are Chevrolet and GMC trucks built between 1988 and 1998. Because of their affordability and robust aftermarket support, OBS trucks have grown in popularity over the years with an enthusiastic and active community. Always seeking to be inclusive, Goodguys saw this as an opportunity to begin allowing the late model trucks into its classic car and truck events.

Previously, Goodguys only allowed vehicles built in 1987 and earlier to compete for awards, in autocross events, and be on display. The addition of OBS trucks makes them among the most modern vehicles you’ll find at the classic car and truck show.

The 11th annual LMC Truck Spring Lone Star Nationals will take place March 12-14, 2021, at the Texas Motor Speedway in Ft. Worth, Texas.

“We are excited to add even more variety to the vehicles on display at this year’s LMC Truck Spring Lone Star Nationals,” said Goodguys Vice President, Event Operations Harry Daviess. “We always want to keep up with what enthusiasts are passionate about, and right now, nothing is hotter than OBS trucks. Goodguys events are about inclusivity – this is a great way to begin welcoming a younger generation of enthusiast.”

Additional truck highlights from the show include truck-only infield parking, a truck-only track cruise, a truck-only autocross shootout, and a truck-only vendor showcase. There will also be over 50 dedicated awards for trucks, including the truck-only Builder’s Choice Awards Selected by Jason Hill of Hill’s Hot Rods.

The event will also feature over 2,000 hot rods, customs, muscle cars, trucks, and classics from 1987 & earlier. The LMC Truck Spring Lone Star Nationals will also include more than 100 vendor and commercial exhibits, a swap meet, the Cars 4 Sale Corral, Nitro Thunderfest Vintage Dragster Exhibition, Goodguys AutoCross timed racing featuring the Tremec “Lone Star” Shootout, burnout competition, a free kids zone, and live entertainment.
