A Single Cab, Twin-Turbo Skyscraper!

rowing up 30 years ago was a lot different than it is today. Without cell phones and social media, the youth of the 1990s was harder to influence. You had to do big things to get small reactions back then, and creating a memorable impact was near impossible. Only a handful of commercials and a few dozen products embedded themselves into our brain’s deep storage—including a lifted Squarebody Chevy on 40-inch tires and crowned with KC lights. Those trucks were the most popular ones on the road and at every late-night get-together. All the cool guys had one, and all the ladies wanted a ride.

If it was cool back then, how cool would a modern version of the same style look today? After searching the truck shows and talking with some of the owners, including Jeremy Logsdon of Charlotte, North Carolina, we think we’ve found our answer. As he told us about his truck and the inspiration behind its design and setup, it was clear that he was thinking the same thing we were, only he actually went out and built it!

Being a full-time business owner of the Wheel and Tire Exchange, Jeremy sees all the trends come and go through his shop. He knows what enthusiasts like, he knows what the dreamers can think up, and he knows what has been done already. This advantage gave him a clear path to fame when he unveiled this ’17 Chevy Silverado. 

The Deep Ocean blue paint is stunning right off the bat, but when you notice the standard cab and short bed combo on a massive modern truck, your mind just wants to know more. If you’re coming in hot from the front, the most in-your-face item on the truck is the T-Rex X-Metal series front grille and the color-matched Fab Four Vengeance bumpers. The Bushwacker fender flares and “AimHigh’’ projector headlights from THC Concepts give this build quite a unique look. The closer you get the more details you notice, and naturally your eyes will end on the suspension and wheel setup. 

A completely custom Full Throttle suspension kit gives this Silverado 10-12 inches of adjustable lift using coilovers and dual external reservoir shocks. An additional 3 inches come from the Daystar body lift, and stability around the corners is improved thanks to the laser-cut and powdercoated tractor bars in the front and rear. All the suspension and frame modifications were completed by R&L Customs in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

For wheels and tires, Jeremy went with a 28×16 Rogue Forged Off-Road Warlord wheel wrapped in 40×15.50×28 Fury Country Hunter M/T tires. Six-piston Wilwood brakes stop this Chevy in its tracks, and an axle ratio of 3:42 sets the RPMs right where they should be. Powering this bow tie is the factory installed 5.3-liter V-8, but like every other part of this build, it’s far from stock. Custom rear mounted Twin Comp 6262 ball-bearing, oil-less turbos with Turbosmart Comp Wastegates and Race Port blow off valves look amazing and perform as expected. GM Performance connecting rods along with a custom VVT camshaft and a Big Black Fabrication intake manifold add to the power process. Pushing the exhausted power out of the back of the truck is a Kooks header and its polished stainless exhaust system. All the performance mods were completed by Pro Fabrication in Concord, North Carolina.

Moving to the interior, Jeremy explained that modern comfort was as important as impactful updates. The factory seats were stripped and re-wrapped with Alea Leather Platini seat covers with a mix of black and blue leather and blue stitching. Starlit fiber optic lights were installed in the door panels and headliner along with an Alpine X-110 touchscreen head unit and a custom-built center console that holds the subwoofers. 

With the interior complete and the truck ready to go, Jeremy decided to pull a few more tricks out from his sleeve. First, a custom-built headache rack and one-off Retrax Pro bed cover had to be modified to fit, and a proper amount of LED rock lights had to be added. Finally, a set of Amp Power Steps were reworked to fit.
