For most, it means the coming of autumn, the holiday season and pumpkin-flavored everything. While others might see colder weather as the end of outdoor fun, in Texas it means that boost season is fast approaching. Houston Performance Trucks has seen a growing community in the truck scene, both in racing and customization. The club wanted to help bring both passions together in one great event for every enthusiast. So in 2011, after months of hard work and stress, it all came together for their first inaugural show. Subscribe to our weekly newsletter This effort of bringing together like-minded people searching out high speeds and low frames has grown year after year with each event they host. With Houston having one of the biggest truck scenes in the nation, people from all over the US and Mexico came to show off for the last time in 2018 and finishing their show season at Houston Raceway. Truck clubs like Ground Zero, Team Billet, Draztik and Just Truckin’ even brought their own live bands to entertain the crown creating a make-shift concert within the show and shine. Big lifts and wide wheel-lips filled the show along with rumbling cammed motors shaking the ground as you walk by. Like most truck events we attend, eventually, you will see billows of smoke in the distance from the burnout pit area. During the weekend, crews from all over mingled with each other and families picked out their favorite rides while the smell of E85 corn fuel filled in the air. “Houston Performance Trucks had a vision in mind, and they created a show that not only brought out the best in the community but also brought them closer together. ” Are you a race fan? Luckily for you, this show has the best of both worlds as race trucks lined up at the drag racing tree all day long, running test hits and trying to dial it in for the $2,000 cash prize. Performance shops like Flaco’s, Aggressive Racing Team, Spike’s and more had turbos spooling all day long against the backyard builders destroying driveshafts with eBay turbos. On the flip side, garage built creations of tubbed and cut frames were shown off proudly alongside professional shops like Finesse Concepts and Chucky’s Customs. Clients’ of these great shops show off all kinds of work ranging from full bags to coilovers and even a brand new set of 28×16 reverse lip from Intro Wheels! “With Houston having one of the biggest truck scenes in the nation, people from all over the US and Mexico came to show off for the last time in 2018 and finishing their show season at Houston Raceway.” Houston Performance Trucks had a vision in mind, and they created a show that not only brought out the best in the community but also brought them closer together. So many big name shops and builders go to SEMA each year to show off their rides and products, it’s nice to see a local community make this their own debut show as well. This event is one that’s hard to pass up, and the guys at HPT are on the right track with it.
