Low Sierra Company is based out of Miami. It was originally founded by two gearhead friends Trent Scotti and J.R Rivas. The original goal with this company was to bring back the eccentric styles of the ’70s and ’80s, only with an added modern twist of their own. They quickly gained recognition by creating new ideas and kits to set anyone’s truck apart from the rest. ’80 Chevy K5 Blazer

So, the plan for this project was to add some style and value to a ’80 Chevy K5 Blazer without taking the whole truck apart for a repaint. These graphics can be designed, printed and installed in a single day, and if you’re out of town they are happy to print and package these for your own install at home. It’s a tough job to lay these graphics down without getting any wrinkles or stretch marks, so talk to your local wrap company to get some install-only quotes. This ’80 K5 Chevy Blazer arrived as a blank canvas to the Low Sierra Company in Miami for the digital design and color proofing of the new graphics. The blazer is brought into an A/C controlled environment to be prepared by Flip from The Sign Savers in Miami.

The concept for this project comes from the ’80s Chevy special design appearances seen on the Desert Fox, the Sun Tiger, the Foxy Sierra, the GMC Sarge and the Beau James.

Luis, Sign Savers’ graphic designer, adjusts the proof to size so the customer can approve final rendering before printing, laminating and cutting. Getting the colors perfect is an important part of the process. The last thing you want is to print everything just to find out that the truck owner hates the color.

The new design was printed on 3M UV-protected Low Sierra film before being laminated to protect it from water and sunlight.

With the passenger side applied, the door seams are trimmed and cleaned up. You can even bring the graphics into the door jambs if you’re willing to pay for it. The original emblems can be cleaned or replaced and stuck directly to the wrap material. And you can go right over those dents and scratches!

Once side panels are in place and the rear tailgate is wrapped up (no pun intended), the hood stripes are taped up to confirm placement on the hood. It’s now or never to find the flaws, so take your time. Once they are happy with the location, the backing is removed, and the graphics are bonded.
