1967 Ford F-100 | Known As REDRUM

When it comes to building and restoring a 1967 Ford F-100, there’s nothing quite like a fully detailed top-to-bottom bumpside. This issue, we find ourselves fortunate enough to be graced with one of the finest examples, and hailing from Calgary, all the way north. Brent Fraser set out with a goal in mind—to build one of the cleanest bumpsides around, and well, as you can see, he has done just that! Of course, something built to this extent of detail and customization doesn’t just happen overnight. Brent found he was in quite capable hands when he hooked up with “Doc” and the crew from Epic Rod & Custom.

Sam or “Doc” as some of us call him, is no stranger to the ways of full custom. In fact, he’s been building some of the cleanest customs north of the border for well over a decade now. After the first meeting/roundtable discussion with Brent, Sam and Brent hit it off and knew this would be quite the vision come to life with a bit of mutual trust and respect for the “OCDness” to come. Sam is a builder who takes great pride in the details of each and every build. Whereas many shops are excellent at what they do—and most might get you 95% there with any lengthy build—the Epic crew really nails that last 5% where all the details come together to create an exquisite machine from top to bottom, inside and out.

Brent wasn’t after just a pretty face either. He really wanted something that would perform as good as it looked, and man oh man, did they hit that proverbial nail on this one. Hooking up with Fat Fender Garage on a few “swap” parts, the Epic crew landed on stuffing a Gen3 Coyote into a one-off chassis. The chassis detail is nuts, with a completely scratch-built coilover IFS built to handle the Supercharged Five-O (supercharger didn’t quite make it in time for the photos, but the Roush charger is certainly right at home now). With a tall order to complete this build in under a year, the crew rallied, not skipping any corners due to the timeline but, in fact, kept adding to the build list to ensure nothing but perfection. Wiring run through the custom powdercoated chassis, all matching stainless fasteners, braided hose—every single detail was addressed and thought through, ensuring the final product would be nothing short of amazing.

All in all, the build time was nine months start to finish. For those who really know just what a feat a build of this caliber is, you also know that timeframe was quite the feat!

The custom Ford pickup market is fairly small. Even though it’s definitely grown leaps and bounds the last few years, it’s still nothing like the C10 crowds. So, Sam did what he and his team do best: custom. Custom machined parts, custom interior, custom exhaust and body mods, custom, custom, custom, the list goes on and on (see the specs on page 16). Literally, he left no stone unturned. For the exterior, they both wanted the ultimate in “clean and classy,” so a Porsche Carrera White Metallic was chosen and sprayed over the Epic body surgery by Ross Custom Paint. The theme was a classy white outside, with plenty of custom touches that would mostly go unnoticed, but a Bright Red inside that screams performance. The red guts come courtesy Auto Marine Upholstery with several Epic touches and creature comforts, since after all, this is no trailer queen.

The Vintage Air climate control setup is both clean and modern, while looking right at home in the ’67’s dashboard.

All in all, the build time was nine months start to finish. For those who really know just what a feat a build of this caliber is, you also know that timeframe was quite the feat! Sam and the Epic team really pulled together to bring Brent’s dream to life in such a short time, and we are as excited as they are to share it with all of you. Try not to get too much drool on these pages, and I’m positive we haven’t heard the last from them Epic Boys, stay tuned!
